The Weekend Whim: Let's Have a Catch Up!
Over the past couple of weeks or so I feel like I've been neglecting A+M a little, but I'm pleased to announce that for the next few months my uni workload has significantly decreased (phew!), and I'll be able to start posting here more often than I have been. So, this weekend I'm filling you in on what's been going on, what's on my knitting needles and sewing table, and what you can expect from A+M in the next few weeks. So, put your feet up, pour yourself a cuppa, and let's have a catch up!
Study
This week I finished my first ever uni module, which means that my workload has decreased from full-time back to part-time again (my schedule is a little more complicated than the norm - I find it hard to understand it myself!). So, whilst I've still got a lot more of studying, assignments, and exams to go, I've been thinking of compiling a little post here to explain what studying with the Open University actually consists of (I know that when I was trying to research it, I could find next to nothing). Let me know if it's something that would interest you.
Stitching + Sewing
As I've had assignments on my brain for the last couple of weeks, I have to admit that unfortunately I've had more time to think about making things, rather than getting the chance to. However, now I've got a little more extra time, I can't wait to get stuck into many projects which I'm halfway through; my suede skirt, a top I'm sewing for my vintage pledge, and the turban beanie. Speaking of the latter, I recently made up a second version of the turban beanie, and whilst I was far more pleased with this version, I think it still needs a few tweaks before I write up a pattern.
I've also cast on a jumper, and although it's not my first time attempting to knit a jumper, this time it actually feels like I'm going to finish. It's a self draft, worked up in a variegated yarn which knits up so quickly. I think the fact it's a self draft is what's keeping me interested for longer; there's a part of me that doesn't know if it's going to work out or not, but that just makes me knit faster! Fingers crossed it should be finished before next winter (hopefully, anyway!).
Awake + Make
When I contributed to Anna's post on blog names a few weeks ago, it actually had me thinking about when I first started this blog, and the kind of content I wanted to post then. I feel like lately I've kind of drifted from my early intentions of posting craft tutorials (I can't remember the last one I did!). So whilst I won't be cutting back on other content, like this odd ramble, I'll definitely be trying to post a few more tutorials in the next few weeks, which I'm looking forward to, as it's been a while since I've done a few smaller projects (hurrah for instant craft gratification!).
Anna's post also had me thinking about the aesthetics of A+M; I truly, truly thought I would tire of my blog name, but if there's anything I do tire of quickly it's my blog design! So, it's going to take me a while, but I feel it's time to freshen up the way things look around here. I want something easier to navigate, and a little more individual than the set up I've got at the moment, but we'll have to see what I manage to put together!
Wow, so I think we're all up to date now! Let me know if there's anything in particular that you'd like to see more of on A+M in the coming months, and I'm excited to start creating more content!

ReplyDeleteTaking a break from blogging really makes you re-evaluate the way you do things, doesn't it? Good luck with your exams Anna!
