Nail It: Easy Gold French Tips

Gold Tipped French Manicure Nail Art Tutorial

Metallic French - tipped nails have been all over the catwalks recently, and it's a look that I really like. More elegant than an all over metallic, and more edgy than a traditional French manicure, it surely has to be the nail art of the moment. Of course, the main problem with this look, is that it feels out of reach for the less steady handed amongst us (including me). But never fear, I have been desperately trying to come up with an easy way to achieve steady(ish) French tips, and I may just have found the answer...

You will only need one nail polish for this look - a metallic of your choice. Mine is Seventeen's Fast Finish in Fury (or as I prefer to call it - Liquid Gold). You could use a base and top coat if you want, but I didn't, in order to contrast my matte nails with the shiny metallic. The only other thing you'll need is an elastic band (honestly - stay with me here, and you'll see why).

Stretch the elastic band over each nail, one at a time, so that it creates a nice curved barrier above your white tips. Then, carefully follow this barrier with your nail polish.

Whilst the varnish is still wet, slowly release the tension in the elastic band, and remove it from your nail. Don't worry if the nail varnish smudges slightly, you can easily wipe it away at this point. Repeat this technique on the rest of your nails, and leave to dry.

Each of my French tips only needed one coat of polish, but this will probably be differ depending on the brand that you use. This was so quick to do, that I can definitely see myself doing it again in the near future - perhaps in a silver next time. Of course, you don't have to use a metallic nail varnish - in fact, I can't think of a colour or finish that this wouldn't work in.
