Thrifty Finds - No. 3

Thrifty Jumper Loafers Books

This time of the year is the time when I'm most likely to make dubious buying decisions. I like to call it 'Summer Shopping Fever' - maybe the sun gets to me, or I get caught up in the holiday spirit, but I definitely buy things that I will not use (mainly crazy clothes). It has not happened yet this year, so hopefully I've learnt from my Summer shopping mistakes. So, this is what I've been buying, instead of buying a ridiculous pair of flatforms.

No, your eyes do not deceive you. That is a big-ass jumper, and it is indeed July. But hear me out here - it was £8 in the sale at M&Co. I love picking up clothes out of season, as you can find yourself some real bargains. This chunky, grey jumper will definitely be seeing some wear later on in the year - it's a lovely slouchy fit (perfect for lazy days), and the colours on it fit right in with the rest of my wardrobe (grey is my favourite neutral). As soon as the temperature drops, I can see myself reaching for this pronto. I'll be wearing it with a pair of black skinny jeans and a statement necklace.

As much as I love ballet flats on other people, they are simply not my sort of shoe. I prefer something with a thicker sole and more structure, so my flat of choice for summer is the loafer. Whilst I really didn't need another pair of loafers, I just had to have this pair. They are by Toast, and are a lovely buttery soft leather that just oozes good quality. I like that they can be worn with pretty much anything - a day dress, skinny jeans or even work wear. A nice bonus is that when I took them to the till at Oxfam, I found that they had been further reduced to £1.99, although I liked these so much I would have willingly paid more.

One thing I have been buying a lot of recently, is books. After a couple of weeks of telling myself that I had to read what I already had on my shelf, I finally cracked and have been on a bit of a book-binge. These are just a few of the ones I have bought - an adorable copy of Bleak House, a well loved edition of Brighton Rock, and a couple of art history books. I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

I picked up this rather sweet leather wristband whilst I was in Anglesey earlier this week, from a Fat Face store. As a complete sucker for anything teal, and the fact it made a lovely holiday souvenir, I bought this without a second thought. And at £1.50, I'd choose it over a stick of rock any day.

Banana Bracelet Beaumaris

I also bought this quirky banana bracelet yesterday, at 20p from the local cat rescue shop. I haven't crumbled in to the fruit-print trend yet, although I am enjoying adding a fruity twist to outfits with accessories. I am still wearing my pineapple necklace on a regular basis, and I am pinterest stalking a certain H&M pineapple bag. Such an easy way to my 5 a day!

What have been your favourite buys lately? Anyone else suffer from Summer shopping fever?

    1. Thanks Lil - it kind of reminds me of those old banana shaped sweets, which can only be a good thing :)

    1. Thanks Gemma! I actually already owned a copy of Bleak House, but this one was too nice to pass up on. I read your review of Brighton Rock, and liked the sound of a crime novel with a twist. Hopefully I'll be reading it soon! :)
